From a covered pool to a running one
An opening goes wrong when it is rushed in the wrong order: chemicals into water that hasn't been filled, equipment started before it is put back together, a cover folded wet. Ace's crew works down one list so each step sits on the one before it.
First the leaves come off the cover and out of the pool. Then the cover is drained, cleaned, folded and moved away along with the water bags, and the scum line is scrubbed and the plugs are removed.

Ladder in, water up, equipment awake
With the pool clear, the crew inserts the ladder, the diving board and the other accessories, then fills the pool and adds the chemicals. Equipment is reassembled, the pool is started, and the crew inspects the equipment while it runs.
That last step is the one that matters most. A pump that is going to give trouble usually shows it in the first minutes, with the crew standing next to it instead of you finding out on the first hot weekend.
What you do before the crew arrives
Three small jobs on your side. Keep the backyard accessible, so the crew can reach the pool and the cover without moving furniture. Leave the ladder, board and other accessories somewhere easy to find. And have the water turned on, because the pool needs filling.
That is the whole list. Everything between the cover and the first swim belongs to Ace.
